Obituary: Vivian Jackson, beloved mother, grandmother COUDERSPORT, Pa. -- Vivian Cobb Jackson, 86, of Coudersport, formerly of Honeoye, died Thursday (Feb. 8, 2001) at the home of her grand-daughter, Joni Fredrick, after a long illness. Born March 8, 1914, in Galeton, she was a daughter of Lee F. and Lilliyian Parsons Cobb. On April 9, 1931, she married Clarence F. Jackson, who died on Dec. 24, 1988. Mrs Jackson was raised in Ansonia and attended schools in Ansonia and Wellsboro. She was a accomplished seamstress and cook and designer and producer of wedding cakes for many years. She was a longtime employee of Hewitt Manor Nursing Home as a cook and nurse's aide. Mrs. Jackson also was a volunteer at the Shinglehouse Senior Center, and she was a 40-year member of the Coudersport Gospel Tabernacle, an auditor for Sharon Township and a Republican committeewoman. Surviving are two sons, Paul E. Jackson of Ulysses and Donald L. Jackson of Shinglehouse, four daughters, Jean A. (Joe) Siriano of Ashville, Ohio, Sue M. (Hal) Porter and Gail M. (Joe) Ayers, both of Coudersport, and Mikki R. (the Rev. Rick) Vargas of Long Island, N.Y.; 30 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Jackson was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond Cobb and Bernard Cobb; and two granddaughters, Kelly Porter and Rose Rachielle. Friends may call at the Coudersport Gospel Tabernacle on Saturday (Feb. 10, 2001) from noon until 1:30 p.m. at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. David Minor will officiate. Burial will be in East Sharon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fickinger Funeral Home in Coudersport. | |
