| Obituary: Betty L. Lawton, loving mother and grandmother CERES, Pa. -- Betty L. ''Betsy'' Lawton, 77, of Ceres, passed away with her loving family by her side on Tuesday(June 21, 2022) in Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, N.Y., after a brief illness. Born on Thursday, Oct. 19, 1944, In Kane, she was a daughter of Chester and Hilma A Clark Silvis. On Jan. 4, 1975, in Shinglehouse, she married Jerry D. Lawton, who passed away on Feb. 13, 2015 Betsy was a graduate of Port Allegany High School in Port Allegany. She was employed by Olean Advanced Products in Olean, N.Y., retiring after many years of service. Betsy's passion was crafting. For many years, she made wedding cakes. She loved camping with her family, cooking and watching birds, especially hummingbirds. Her greatest love was her family. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Debbie Spinler of Olean and Lydia N. McLeod of Ceres, Pa.; two grandsons, Dillon J. (Amber Edgell)McLeod and Adam S. McLeod; six great-grandchildren. McKaylee, Mitchell, Max, Marcus, Margaret, and Sawyer; and two nieces, Roxane Gould of Bradford and Nina Jo Dawley of Port Allegany. In addition to her parents and husband, Betsy was predeceased by a sister, Joanne Bosworth. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday (June 26, 2022) at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 S. Union St., Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 4 p.m., with Pastor Anthony E Edgell of Turtlepoint Evangelical Church, officiating. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 98, Shinglehouse, PA 19748. Betsy's family has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
