“beloved father and grandfather”
Craigsville, VA---Ralph D. Cook, 92, of Staunton, VA, formerly of Millport, PA, died Sunday, January 17, 2010, in Envoy of Staunton, Staunton, VA after a short illness.
Born April 28, 1917 in Millport, PA, he was a son of Vurna and Rozetia Everetts Cook. In 1964, he married Linda S. Field, who died on October 27, 2003.
He attended Shinglehouse High School and graduated from Bolivar (NY) High School where he played football.
Mr. Cook was employed by Blackstone Corporation in Jamestown, NY, retiring on November 4, 1968. Prior to that, he was employed for many years in the Bradford area oilfields.
He loved to hunt.
Surviving are two sons, Myron G. (Barbara) Cook of Craigsville, VA and Raymond D. (Neva) Cook of Faber, VA; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Cook was predeceased by two brothers, Isaac Cook and Glenn Cook; and a sister, Lena Daves.
Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2010 with funeral services following at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Daniel P. Grimes, pastor of the Millport United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sharon Center Cemetery, Shinglehouse, PA.
