SHlINGLEHOUSE, Pa. - Elizabeth A. "Liz" Lawton, 76, of Shinglehouse died Friday (June 20, 2008) in Olean General Hospital after a short illness.
Born March 15, 1932, in Shinglehouse, she was a daughter of J. Keith and Hazel Githens Press Sr. On April 27, 1957, in Shinglehouse United Methodist Church. she married Robert B. Lawton who died on Dec. 4, 2006.
She was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, class of 1950. In her early years, she was employed for seven years at Olean Tile Co.
Mrs. Lawton was a member of the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church. She was a member of the choir and a member of the Ladies Circle One Group of the church. She held many offices in the church. She also worked on the election board in the Shinglehouse Borough for many years.
Mrs. Lawton enjoyed her home, spending many hours sitting on her porch and visiting with her neighbors and riends.
Surviving are two sons, Danny M. (Vicki) Lawton of Shinglehouse and Gary R. (Dawn) Lawton of Salamanca, NY; a grandson, Bobby D. Lawton; a granddaughter, Jennifer M. Lawton; an aunt; several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Lawton was predeceased by two brothers, John K Press Jr. and
William C. Press. .
Friends may call on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. and' 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday (June 24, 2008) at 11 a.m, with the Rev. Daniel P. Grimes, pastor of Shinglehouse United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Randall W. Headley, pastor of Port Allegany United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church. P.O.
