Elizabeth M. 'Tootie' Lawton, beloved mother and grandmother

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. - Elizabeth M. 'Tootie' Lawton, 78, of Powerhouse Road, died Friday (Aug. 15, 2003) at Olean General Hospital, Olean, N.Y., after a long illness.
Born June 20, 1925 in Bradford, she was a daughter og Ferd and Naomi Green Cross. On Sept. 2, 1946, in Bolivar, N.Y., she married Donald A. Lawton, who died Aug 15, 1999.
She was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, class of 1944.
She enjoyed her family and baking for her family.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry D (Betsy) Lawton and Larry F. (Sally Ann Davis) Lawton, both of Shinglehouse, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine Monroe of Olean, N.Y. and Betty (Floyd) Marriam of Houghton, N.Y.;a brother Carl (Margaret) Cross of Wellsville, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lawton was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Friends may call at the Virgil Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday (Aug 18, 2003) from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time funeral and committal services will be held in the funeral home. Pastor John J. Bell of Candlestick Baptist Church, Ogdensburg, N.Y. and Donald R. Lawton, both grandsons of Mrs. Lawton, Rev Floys Marrium of Houghton, N.Y., and Rev. Lee Allen, pastor of Shinglehouse Missionary Alliance Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehosue.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 98, Shinglehouse, PA. 16748
