Amos Bird Lawton
The death of Amos Bird Lawton occurred Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Grace Lounsbury, of Castile, N.Y.; cause of death being pneumonia following an illness extending over a two year period.
He was born in Oswayo seventy-eight years ago and made his home in Coudersport for many years. His wife was the former Clara Porter of Oswayo, who died about eight years ago. Nine children were born to them, six of whom survive; John of Coudersport; Alice Reynolds, Perry, N.Y.; Grace Lounsbury, Castile, N.Y.; Ida day, Ada Burgett, Sonyea, N.Y. and Nancy Burgett, Franklinville, N.Y.; also a brother in Oswayo and several grand children.
A prayer service was held Wednesday morning at 7 o'clock at Castile, N.Y., and funeral services that afternoon at 2:30 at the U.B. Church of Oswayo of which deceased was a member. The Rev Dibble of Millport officiated. Interment was made in the Oswayo Cemetery.
