CERES, N.Y. -- Irene A. Loucks, 88 of High Street died Saturday(July 3, 2004) in the Wellsville Manor Care Center, Wellsville, after a short illness.
Born Nov. 18, 1915, in Shinglehouse, Pa., she was a daughter of Wallace and Cora M., Corwin Newton. On April 23, 1936, in Little Genesee, she married Cornelious A. "Slim" Loucks, who survives.
She was a graduate od Shinglehouse High School.
Mrs. Loucks was a member of the Ceres United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years; four daughters, Joyce M. Button of Dansville, Jane Austin of Shinglehouse, Linda (Don) Ginter and Sandra M. (David) Parker, both of Ceres; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William E. Newton of Shinglehouse and Leslie C. "Jim" (Ceceilia) Newton of Friendship; two sisters, Mildred Boats of Olean and Elna Dean (Howard) Murray of West Sacramento, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Loucks was preceded in death by a grandson; a brother, Lyle Newton; and a sister Essie Vandernick.
Friends may call Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (July 7, 2004) at 11 a.m.in the funeral home with the Rev. Randall W. Headley, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Allegany, Pa., officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
