Clark Lawton, aged 80 years, passed away early Friday morning March 22, 1935, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elmer Leet of Larabee. He had been ill only about a week with the flu. His condition had not been considered serious until Wednesday evening when he had a sinking spell.
Mr. Lawton was born at Oswayo, Pa., November 7, 1854. He was a son of Joseph and Sally Herring Lawton, both deceased. He was married to Jane Moyer who died 23 years ago. To this union three children were born -- Mrs. Elmer Leet of Larabee, Mrs. Irvin Wells of Shinglehouse and James Lawton of Smethport. He also leaves one step-son, Seeber Wilcox of Bells Run, four sisters, Mrs. Everett Lucas, Mrs. John Leonard, Mrs. Jennie Lannin, all of Illinois. Mrs. Chas. Oneil, Salamanca, and one brother Wilson Lawton of Illinois. He also leaves several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The body was removed to Morton's Undertaking rooms at Shinglehouse and later taken to the home of Mrs. Irvin Wells, where funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two O'clock.
Pallbearers were Elmer Leet, Irvin Wells, Glen and James Leet, Stillman and Russell Wells.
