LEONARD J. SWIFT
Leonard Jerome Swift, Rixford, Pa., passed away Thursday afternoon (November 29, 1945) at three-thirty o'clock at the home of his daughter Mrs. Edith Harris of Columbia Hill Road after a brief illness. He was born in Livingston County, N. Y., September 9, 1865 and was married to Nellie Clare on November 28, 1887 at Olean, N. Y. They celebrated their fifty-eighth wedding anniversary on Wednesday November 28th.
Mr. Swift spent most of his lifa in and around Coneville, Pa. He was farmer and lumberman and for the past year he had resided in Rixford.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edith Harris; five sons, Wright Swift of Rixford, Don Swift of Olean; Klahr Swift of Cuba; Ward Swift of Coudersport: Frederick Swift of Cuba, nineteen grandchildren; one brother, John Swift of Rixford. One of the grandsons, Lt. Stanley D. Swift is located in Texas in the armed forces.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon (December 2, 1945) with a prayer service at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harris at one-thirty o'clock. Further services were held at three o'clock at the United Brethren Church in Coneville, Pa. The Rev. B. Berry, pastor of the church officiated and burial was in the Rathburn Cemetery, Coneville.
