Michael Goodliff “beloved husband, father & grandfather”
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Michael Goodliff, 56, of Shinglehouse, died Sunday, September 18, 2011 after suffering an apparent heart attack in Oswayo while scouting for a hunting spot for this year’s season.
Born December 20, 1954 in Olean, NY, he was a son of Truman G. Goodliff and Louise Lundy Goodliff Turk. On June 8, 1974 in Millport, he married Rebecca A. “Becky” Hyde, who survives.
Mr. Goodliff was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, class of 1972. He was employed as a machinist by Alstom Air Preheater in Wellsville, NY for many years.
He was a member of Sharon Lodge #598 F & AM, Shinglehouse, the Oswayo Valley Rod and Gun Club, Millport, and the NRA. An avid outdoorsman, Mike loved to hunt and fish. His greatest love was his family. He helped his family in every way.
Surviving besides his wife are three children, Rhonda L. (Tom) Weitzel of Coudersport, Michael Goodliff II of Shinglehouse, and Robert M. “Bob” Goodliff of Monroe, NC; four grandchildren, Keagen M. Goodliff, Alexis A. Weitzel, MacKenzie L. Weitzel and Taylor F. Goodliff; his stepfather, Matthew J. Turk of Shinglehouse; four brothers, Barry A. Goodliff of Clermont, NH, John E. (Val) Goodliff of Washington, NH, Jeff L. (Pam) Goodliff of Shinglehouse, and M. Steve (Heidi) Turk of Shinglehouse; two half sisters, Linda A. (Randy) Carpenter of Richburg, NY and Verna R. (Michael) Dry of Salamanca, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Goodliff was predeceased by his parents.
Private funeral services will be held at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse. The Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
