Obituary: Paul F. Fosmer “beloved husband, father, and grandfather”
Millport, PA---Paul F. Fosmer, 82, of Millport, PA, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA after a long illness.
Born November 15, 1926 in Coudersport, PA, he was a son of Ira and Cleo Lewis Fosmer. On August 19, 1950 in Millport, PA, he married Lola M. Chapman, who survives.
Mr. Fosmer attended Shinglehouse High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in Italy from April 1945 to December 1946. He was employed by the former McGraw Edison Company (now Cooper Industries) in Olean, NY, retiring as an inspector after 35 years of service.
Mr. Fosmer was a member of the Millport United Methodist Church. He was an assistant scout master for Troop #558 in Millport for many years. He loved to fish, hunt with his hunting dogs, and read.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, P. Victor (Jackie) Fosmer of Clara, PA; a daughter, Nola Jean (Philip) Estes of Shinglehouse, PA; five grandchildren: Joshua A. Estes, Steven P. Estes, Kylene J. (Nathan) Robinson, Cheylan S. Fosmer, and Garrett J. Fosmer; a sister, Lorraine Petrosewitz of Coudersport, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Fosmer was predeceased by a half brother, Carl W. Hurd; and two half sisters, Eugurtha Hathaway and Mary M. Stilson.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel P. Grimes, pastor of the Millport United Methodist Church and the Rev. Fred Kemp, pastor of the Portville Baptist Church, Portville, NY officiating. Burial will be in the Clara Cemetery, Clara, PA.
Members of the Potter County Honor Guard will accord military honors on Wednesday.
