Phoebe L. Smith “beloved mother and grandmother”

Ceres, PA----Phoebe L. Smith, 72, of Ceres, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport, after a lengthy illness.
Born October 20, 1940 in Clarion, she was a daughter of Richard F. and Myrtle Gifford Etzel. On August 12, 1960 in Clarion, she married Gary R. Smith, who died on March 3, 2006.
Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Clarion High School and Clarion Teachers College. She was employed as a bus driver for over 30 years for the IU9 program in Potter and McKean Counties.
She was a member of the Thursday Night Swingers Bowling League in Shinglehouse. She enjoyed gardening and farming.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Gary S. (Lorna) Smith of Lewis Run and Matt D. (Tiffany) Smith of Youngsville; a daughter, Robin L. (Keith) Henderson of Yelm, Washington; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Smith was predeceased by two sisters, Kathryn Shoup and Ella Etzel; and a brother, Richard Etzel.
Private funeral services will be held at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
A public memorial service will be held at a date and time to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the McKean County SPCA, 80 Glenwood Avenue, Bradford, PA 16701.
